Paul Lundy of Bremerton Office Machine Company

Hi there, well, it’s been a long time. Both literally and figuratively, damn you 2020.

Since I launched this new website and branding I have moved cross-country to Tacoma, WA, and started reaching out to local businesses. I subscribed to a local publication, South Sound Magazine, and found an incredible typewriter repair business in Bremerton, WA. Scouring their website, Typespec.com, I became deeply interested in the individual running this shop, Paul Lundy.

I won’t tell you the whole interesting story of Bremerton Office Machine Company, you can read that over on that website I linked just above. But Paul Lundy, I felt he deserved his own portraits, while respecting the place of the former owner, Bob Montgomery.

Paul was kind enough to allow me to come in and spend an afternoon photographing him. And I couldn’t have been more honored to photograph this individual who came into this business and took over from Mr. Montgomery when he needed to help someone who had done so much for the Bremerton community, and the business is thriving. When taking over the business, Paul asked Mr. Montgomery if it was okay that he brought the business back to its roots, typewriter repair. I think the image above tells you what his answer was. And now Bremerton Office Machine Company is one of the few full service Typewriter repair shops left in the US. Yes, full service as in they will recreate parts from scratch, out of perfect moldings, it’s pretty top notch.
