Steinway & Sons - Seattle

As an aspiring professional photographer, getting an email from Steinway & Sons was thrilling to say the least. I must express my gratitude to Becky Gmahling of Becky G Studios for pointing Steinway in my direction. Also, Becky was the exceptional photographer who perfectly executed my engagement photos, thanks!

Steinway & Sons was looking to show appreciation to piano teachers in the local areas of their showrooms. Having a showroom in downtown Seattle, they needed a local photographer to execute their vision. After visiting the showroom to scout the location and best placement of the piano, it was on to shoot day.

The shoot went exceptionally smooth thanks to the Showroom Manager, Joseph, who kindly scheduled all of the teachers at perfect intervals. The technical aspects of the photoshoot presented a few challenges that pushed me to flex my creative muscles to find solutions, but found they were. The Steinway staff were looking to achieve a specific look with a contrasting backdrop to set the black piano against. The backdrop you see below was not wide enough to accommodate the piano, subject, and some buffer on the framing, so digital editing came in handy.

Thanks to the Steinway team for including me in this meaningful project for your teachers in the PNW.

Enjoy these images, a few are now in my portfolio. You can see my full commercial portfolio here.
